ABEL AND AMPARO | AGE IS JUST A NUMBER

That there are no limits and that age is just a number are two things Abel and Amparo are very clear about. Both, he at 76 and she at 70 , continue to enjoy life like the first day. Will you join us to learn their story?

THE BEGINNING OF THE ADVENTURE

THE BEGINNING OF THE ADVENTURE

This great adventure began 7 years ago, when Amparo was recommended to exercise and maintain a more active lifestyle due to her high blood sugar level.

From then on, Amparo began walking the streets of Valencia with an old friend, and they both realized they were capable of reaching further and further. Amparo soon began to feel stronger, lighter, with greater stamina, and most importantly, with a sense of hope and motivation she had never experienced before.

"I realized I was walking farther and farther and getting less tired. I started feeling better, healthier, more active, more motivated... I immediately wanted to go all out!" Amparo said.

Abel, for his part, has always played sports: " I've played sports all my life, I've always been very active. I went to the gym, I got into pelota... But as soon as I joinedPoblats Marítims , the athletics club, I knew that running was my passion ," Abel commented.

And so it all began. Amparo, passing by the club where Abel trained every day, decided to ask him how she could train with them. Since then, the couple hasn't let go of each other's hands.

"We feel alive"

"We feel alive"

"Athletics makes us feel alive. We disconnect from our routines, we connect with incredible people, we're together, and most importantly, we feel good," Amparo happily noted.

In addition to running purely for the sake of running, Abel and Amparo have won numerous competitions, which gives them even more desire and motivation to keep running. "Beating ourselves is our daily motivation," they proudly commented.

That's why the couple never settles. "We love running, and even more so when we do it together. It's really interesting because we feel better and stronger every time... The older we get, the more we want to continue in this sport," the couple noted.

Abel and Amparo are clear: you set your own limits. Now, at their new club, Velas Maraton, they have thousands of challenges and goals ahead for which they'll have to train hard. "On Tuesdays we train strength and Thursdays we train running technique, while the rest of the week we practice endurance," says Abel.

The importance of running together

"This sport is wonderful, but without the other it wouldn't make sense," the couple comments.

"We're not superheroes. After all, we're older than that, and some days are harder to achieve. That's why we miss each other so much. When one of us fails, there's always someone else there to cheer us on and motivate us to keep running. Sharing this passion is incredible; after all, it's our way of life," they conclude.

What would you say to older people who don't dare to pursue their passion?

Abel and Amparo are clear: "First of all, we would tell them that it's never too late to start doing something you like or a sport," and as we mentioned earlier, Amparo started when she was 63 years old and had never practiced anything before.

"You have to move, enjoy yourself... age is just a number on your ID. It seems like when you get older, life is over and all you have left to do is sit on the couch and watch TV. That's not the case. There's so much more to life than that, and it's incredible to dare to discover it," the couple concludes.
