What are anti-bedsore cushions?

Anti-bedsore cushions are a product designed for people with limited mobility who spend a lot of time in the same position, whether in bed or in a wheelchair . Both lying down and sitting create pressure on the blood vessels, which, if not properly treated, can lead to the formation of bedsores.

Anti-bedsore cushions are used to prevent pressure ulcers, which occur mainly in the buttocks and legs.

How to choose your anti-bedsore cushion (1/3)

There are different types of anti-bedsore cushions based on their material, density, hardness, and shape. Depending on their material , these cushions are divided into:

· Viscoelastic Anti-Decubitus Cushion: Thanks to their viscoelastic memory foam, these anti-decubitus cushions help distribute body pressure evenly across the entire surface of the cushion.

· Polyurethane Anti-Decubitus Cushion: the material allows this type of cushion to adapt perfectly to the user .

* It may be the case, as in KMINA, that the anti-bedsore cushion presents a combination of both materials (Viscoelastic Foam + PU).

· Cotton Anti-Bedsore Cushion: These cushions are characterized by their softness and are especially recommended for people at medium risk of developing bedsores.

· Air Cushion: This type of cushion adapts perfectly to the user's weight and contour, allowing the skin's tissues to regenerate as they maintain constant air movement.

· Gel Anti-Bedsore Cushion: Made of a special gel material that adapts to the shape of the body and distributes pressure evenly , thereby reducing excessive pressure points that can cause ulcers to form.

How to choose your anti-bedsore cushion (2/3)

It's important to know that the cushion's density and firmness will adapt better or worse to your body. This will be crucial for your injury, as a cushion with a greater or lesser adaptability will be better depending on your condition.

Low-density cushion: These cushions feature a soft viscoelastic foam (density 50 kg/m³) that reduces pressure and prevents the development of ulcers and bedsores. It's important to know that these cushions tend to adapt better to the shape and contours of the body.

Medium-density cushions: Made from memory foam (density 23 kg/m³), they are ideal for preventing ulcers and bedsores, offering a good balance between support and comfort . They are firm enough to provide adequate support to certain areas of the body, but also have a certain elasticity that makes them comfortable for sitting for long periods.

· High-Density Cushion: Made with memory foam with a density of 65.3 kg/m³ . These cushions offer exceptionally firm and solid support, which is beneficial for people who require maximum stability and postural alignment.

How to choose your anti-bedsore cushion (3/3)

According to their shape, these cushions are divided into:

· Square Cushion: These have a square or rectangular shape that provides the user with more support than a round cushion throughout the buttocks and lower back.

Round Cushion: These have a circular shape that distributes weight evenly and reduces pressure points. They are usually best suited for people who need support in specific areas of their bodies, such as the hips or tailbone.

It's important to note that all our cushions have a washable, non-slip, waterproof, and breathable cover.
